Aug. 14th, 2017 08:45 pmIt's a dusky pub he's been in for hours. Maybe half a day. Maybe more than that. Who can tell with time. He's been playing in the corner by himself. Beer untouched because he's not in the mood. He misses the hum and the presence of the TARDiS but going back there makes him inwardly cringe. There's entirely too much there. Emotions good and bad like a raw nerve and Rose waiting, ready to snarl at one moment and flirt the next. It was his fault, he knows, turning her into that. His fault about Jack. His fault about himself who is so wrapped up in this fragile emotion that he can't even consider the future-- not to mention Martha which is like a stone of guilt in his throat.
The hell of it is, it's only been about five days. He's been in and out, never long enough to catch anyone's attention because she warns him. She still does in a way. After having downloaded their energy signatures from her database, he's developed a device that settles comfortably in his pocket and vibrates whenever any one of them are in a certain distance, giving him enough time to scarper if he so chooses. He's even had the foresight to give at least three a different vibrational frequency, so he'll know if he really wants to leave or not.
It's pathetic.
It's lonely a little too. Or at least he misses being able to just crawl into his lovely blue box at the end of the day and not worry about everything exploding on him at once.
Still if he can keep this up long enough maybe he can find whatever force brought them all here and reverse it to send them all back. Or at least send himself back and let the younger him deal with Rose, Jack, Martha, and whomever else. Because there would always be someone else.
For now, though, he played to himself and ignored his beer and tried not to think too much about anything.
